Villa Alegria

Knowing that Selva Magica was the only known park in a very big city quite a bit of our research into finding new parks were focused here, and pretty early on I'd discovered a new find.

Just 15 minutes drive south of Selva was this collection of rides and it there was a bit of track there but it wasn't clear if it was a ride that would interest us.

Historical Street View (yes, I use that too) revealed a bigger clue. There was definitely coaster track through the trees.

The park wasn't well advertised and I couldn't see any sign of it on t'internet. The best I could find was "Extrem Park" so we called it that until our visit where we discovered the correct name of Villa Alegria (Joy village, if you're interested)

The coaster was called Dragon and the park owner, a showman, came over when he saw us photographing his ride. He told us that the land used to be wasteground and he and a few others petitioned the local council to make the land available to them which they used as the home for the small park and a nearby BMX park (it was that which was called Extrem Park). The majority of rides including the coaster are permanently located here but one or two other rides are taken on the fair circuit. He told us that he was due to take a couple of rides up to Monterrey and when we asked if he meant the Guadalupe Fair, he exclaimed yes, realised we knew our stuff and then we had a really nice chat.

A music stage sits between the two parks.

The skate park was being used for a bike contest with loud electro music serving as the backdrop.

and where there's a skatepark there's often graffiti and I was pleased to find a number of decent pieces here.

Loving this SoCal style font.

Lots of detail in these ones, clearly a collaborative effort given the different styles.

A coaster and a lot of graffiti. I was very happy with that, and it was nice to find an easy bonus credit so close to the bigger park up the road. Now onto the next one.
