Parque JM Romo

The first park of the day was a bit of a special one in that it's a park that not many people have been to. Now, we were finding new parks all over the place on this trip, but this park has been known for years but it is closed to the general public and not many people have been in.

JM Romo is a local company that make products such as supermarket trollies, and the factory is just across the road from the park. In an attempt to keep the company morale high the owner invested in a private amusement park which is opened to the employees and their families.

On the Quiqueland page I made reference to Maria, and she had been doing her damnest to get us into the park and onto the rollercoaster within it. Our Spanish was rubbish and clearly not good enough to explain who we were and why we wanted to visit. "Solo y solo y solo" wasn't going to work here. So Maria had kindly offered to help out and had arranged for us and the other group to be invited into the park. We then subsequently discovered that the ride wouldn't be open so the initial plan was scrapped and instead we chose just to rock up and visit the park instead.

Now when we got there the entrance gate was open but I was hesitant to just walk in. I didn't want to get done for trespass so I went into the factory across the road and asked to speak to the woman that Maria had been in contact with. She didn't speak English so brought a young chap to act as interpreter. We explained that we knew the park was closed and we weren't expecting to ride anything but could we be allowed into the park for a tour. A quick chat in commerce between the woman and the man and it was agreed that he'd give us a quick tour.

The centrepiece is the castle which serves as the station for the coaster, which we were told was called Dragon (the name wasn't previously known)

The park is immaculate and we were very quickly commenting just how good the park looked.

A Bavarian themed observation tower.

Stunning skies today that really brought the pictures to life I think. The park is a decent size and a bit tardis like in that from the outside you'd think it would be quite small but it's not.

One of the thatched halls is a huge spa complex.

A pano taken from the back of the park.

There's a train ride that takes passengers around the centre of the park. The cacti here is amazing.

One corner of the park is a mini water park. Tal who was like a kid in an empty toy shop was running around making the most of the opportunity and did run up the tower to take photos from up there. We were expecting him to come down via one of the slides but he let the side down.

In another corner of the park they have a canyon, yes a flipping canyon! Completely open behind a small fence.

Now there aren't many parks that have gone to this trouble This was a total "wow!" moment for us.

Even better you can walk down into it.

and not only do they have a cavern but they have a whole underground system of caves with fossils and cave theming.

The second "wow" moment of the tour. It's so hard to believe a park owner has gone to all this trouble just to ensure his workforce are kept happy and having not had a single strike in the history of the company he was clearly doing something right.

Incredible English Castle theming. Inside I think there was a restaurant and canteen area.

It's fair to say this place is making the most of the available space.

Where has his telescope gone?

A view from the back of the park inside the castle.

The next wow moment number was revealed when we entered one of the side buildings and came across a full size basketball court which is used to host inter-office competitions.

and here we are posing in one of the most exclusive parks in the world. We think Michael Jackson's old Neverland Ranch would have been the most exclusive (and wrong haha). We were bowled over with the hospitality given to us by the staff of the company who played perfect hosts to us and it really didn't matter that we were unable to ride the coaster.

Finishing our stay in Aguascalientes with a great park it was time to head south back to Mexico City with a little sightseeing along the way.
